Yoshihiro SAITO − Editorial Board Member

Yoshihiro SAITO, Associate Professor, School of Materials Science, Toyohashi University of
Technology, was born in 1965 in Shiga, Japan. After graduating from Department of Industrial
Chemistry, Shiga Prefectural Junior College in 1986, he worked at Analytical Center of Murata
Manufacturing Company, Kyoto, Japan as a Research Chemist for three years. In 1989 he
enrolled in the School of Materials Science, Toyohashi University of Technology and graduated
from a research group of Prof. K. Jinno in 1991. He received a MS degree (1993) and a Ph.D
(1996) from the same university. After about two years of research experience in the United
States, he returned to Toyohashi as a Research Associate in 1998, and was promoted to Assistant
Professor (2000) and Associate Professor (2008). His research interests include the development
of novel stationary phases for various chromatographic techniques, miniaturization of sample
preparation and the applications of fibrous materials in these techniques. He has published more
than 100 research articles, including reviews and book chapters, and received a Young Scientist
Award from the Society for Chromatographic Science (Japan) in 2002 and the Tokai Chemical
Industry Award (Japan) in 2004.
